Here are a few answers to your most common questions.
Do I need to be a student to apply?
No. Our program is open to individuals coming from any educational or professional background.. Anyone who has some education, understanding and experience in IT, or someone coming from relevant business experience who is looking to advance their career towards cyber security.
Do you offer online courses?
Yes. The Cybersecurity Bootcamp at Pathfinder Hacking is offered on a virtual platform, featuring live classroom sessions with expert instructors.
What if I’m working full time – can I still follow along?
Easily! This bootcamp is designed for working professionals with flexible evening and weekend course schedules available.
What laptop specs are required?
All you need for the 16-week bootcamp is
- Steady internet
- A laptop/desktop with At least
- 200gb storage on hard drive
- 4gb ram
- Core i3 processor
Are there any other equipments needed?
We will provide all software applications that are required throughout the course. Other than your own device and general stationery items there is nothing else you will need to bring.
What is the expected commitment outside of class hours? Will I have homework?
In order to complete the projects throughout the course, students will need to spend time outside of class hours studying, practicing and working on assessments. The amount of time and effort you can put in will reflect what you get out of the course. It is suggested that students in the bootcamp would do at least 10 hours per week self-study. The more you put in, the more you will get out of it.
How does the admission process work?
Spots are limited and we accept candidates on a rolling basis.
The first step involves a 5 minute questionnaire to learn about your prior educational and work experience.
Based on your responses, we might ask for additional information, e.g. a brief phone interview, or a quick technical and security challenge just to make sure the Bootcamp is a good fit for you.
When do classes start?
Bootcamps begin on a rolling basis.
How long does this course take?
Becoming a Cyber Security Specialist takes time and effort. We’ve built a curriculum to teach you what you should know to land a job. The course length is 6 months, but students have the flexibility to complete the course sooner since some part of the content is self-pace. We expect students will finish the course in 6 months, working at ~20 hours per week.
How soon can I find a job?
There are modules in the course which focus on career components. In those modules, you’ll learn the latest job hunting strategies and work 1:1 with your career coach to create a successful job search strategy, build your network in tech, craft a cyber security analyst resume and LinkedIn profile, practice mock technical and behavioral interviews, debrief after actual job interviews, and negotiate your salary. We expect you to land a cybersecurity analyst job within two months of course graduation.
